ioXt Alliance Contributes to NISTIR 8425 Efforts for U.S. National Label Program

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ioXt Alliance, the global standard for IoT security, today announced its contribution to and general support for the development of NISTIR 8425, a publication by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that outlines a U.S. national label program for IoT devices. This effort is in response to Executive Order 14028, which was issued by the White House in 2022 to address cybersecurity threats to critical infrastructure.

The ioXt Alliance is working closely with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the FCC, NIST and other stakeholders to help shape the national label program. Due to the ioXt Alliance's many contributions to the development of NISTIR 8425 and its alignment with the goals of the U.S. national label program for IoT devices, ioXt is expected to be one of the first scheme owners to license the National Label to its members and stakeholders. The ioXt Alliance is proud to support the U.S. national label program and looks forward to continuing its work to create a more secure IoT ecosystem.

"As the global standard for IoT security, the ioXt Alliance is committed to facilitating work that is in alignment with the U.S. national label program for IoT devices. We believe that our certification program can play a significant role in supporting the success of this program by providing a baseline level of security for connected devices. We are proud to contribute to this important initiative and are committed to ensuring that IoT devices meet industry-recognized security standards." - Gary Jabara, CEO & Founder of the ioXt Alliance.

The ioXt Alliance’s contribution to the national label program builds on its existing efforts to create a more transparent and secure industry. The program covers a range of IoT devices, including smart home products, smart building products, cellular IoT products, and mobile apps.
