Sunday, Donor Alliance to Host 24th Annual Donor Dash 5K to Raise Awareness for Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation

Thousands of Coloradans return to Washington Park to honor, celebrate and recognize the lives of those touched by donation and transplantation

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Donor Alliance, the federally designated non-profit organization that facilitates organ and tissue donation in Colorado and most of Wyoming, is hosting the 24th annual Donor Dash 5K at Denver’s Washington Park on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 8 a.m. Participants of all ages are invited to come together to honor the lives of organ, eye and tissue donors, celebrate the lives of transplant recipients, and recognize those that continue to wait for a lifesaving transplant.

“We continue to be incredibly grateful to our community for the overwhelming support for giving the gift of life year after year,” said Jennifer Prinz, president and CEO, Donor Alliance. “Coloradans continue to be the most generous state in the nation when it comes to signing up to be organ, eye and tissue donors, and this event serves as a powerful reminder of the life-affirming impact of organ and tissue donation made possible by the heroic donors and their families in our region.”

Participants can still register for the Donor Dash online or in-person. Online registration is open until Thursday, July 13, and race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday, followed by the 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. In addition, a Diaper Dash for children 3-years-old and under will be held at 9:15 a.m. After the race, participants may visit the expo area to enjoy the post-race program and the inaugural Community Tribute Ribbon Ceremony. People will also have a chance to get more information about donation and transplantation, read messages of hope and inspiration submitted by donor families on the new Dash Board located near the stage, browse exhibitors and enjoy a children’s play area.

Event maps and information on how to register or volunteer can be found on the Donor Dash event page. The Donor Dash would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors, volunteers and community partners who have and continue to contribute the time, resources and enthusiasm that have made this event a success year after year.
