Rapaport Press Release: Rapaport Launches Green Star Source Program

Okavango Diamond Company, GIA and Rapaport Cooperation

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Rapaport Group is pleased to launch the Green Star Source Program which tracks the source of polished diamonds from the rough diamond producer.

Polished diamonds sourced from Okavango rough diamonds that are analyzed by GIA and issued a GIA Diamond Origin Report (DOR) will now receive Rapaport Green Star certification and designation on RapNet.

“GIA’s Diamond Origin Report Service and Okavango ethical sourcing allows us to issue Green Star certificates for polished diamonds. Prioritized RapNet Green Star designation will promote price premiums for ethically sourced diamonds,” said, Martin Rapaport, Chairman of the Rapaport Group.

“GIA Diamond Origin Reports help provide consumers the transparent diamond origin information they increasingly demand,” said GIA Executive Vice President and Chief Laboratory and Research Officer. “Analyzing rough diamonds for this service at the GIA laboratory in Botswana reinforces the connection between the diamond and it’s verified source.”

”The Okavango Diamond Company is pleased to cooperate with the Gemological Institute of America and the Rapaport Group to ensure an ethical supply of Botswana diamonds to the diamond markets. We are pleased to support the GIA Diamond Origin Grading Reports and the Rapaport Green Star diamond programs,” said, Mmetla Masire, Managing Director of Okavango Diamond Company.
