Financial Accounting Foundation Appoints Baker Tilly's Jere Shawver as Chair of Private Company Council

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading advisory CPA firm Baker Tilly US, LLP (Baker Tilly) announces Jere Shawver, Managing Partner - Assurance and Risk, has been appointed by the trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation to a three-year term as chair of the Private Company Council, beginning January 1, 2024.

The Private Company Council advises the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on accounting standards that affect private companies. As Chair, Shawver will coordinate with the other council members to provide input to the FASB on proposed accounting standards and to identify and recommend potential changes to existing accounting standards.

Shawver has over 40 years of experience advising companies on financial reporting, accounting and business matters across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, construction and real estate, higher education, hospitality, government contracting, and technology. He is responsible for managing Baker Tilly’s assurance practice and risk management, which includes Baker Tilly’s Office of General Counsel.

Shawver's extensive experience in financial reporting and accounting, as well as his previous role as a member of the AICPA's Auditing Standards Board from 2015-2019 and chairman of the AICPA's Professional Liability Insurance Committee from 2014-2019, makes him an excellent choice for this new role.
