IPSC Promotes Naoki Kono to Vice President of Commercial Operations

Leading Owner and Operator of U.S. Power Plants Taps Kono to Strengthen Market Position and Drive Business Growth

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC), a leading owner and operator of power plants across the U.S., today announced the promotion of former business development manager at IPSC, Naoki Kono, to vice president of commercial operations effective immediately.

An industry pro with more than a decade of experience in the power generation sector, Kono began his career in 2010 with IPSC’s parent company, IHI Corporation in Tokyo, Japan—overseeing business development needs for decarbonization projects and technologies related to ammonia gas turbines, carbon capture and methanation. In 2021, he set down roots in Irvine, Calif. and joined IHI Power Services to provide his expertise across operations and power plant support services as the company’s business development manager specializing in engineering procurement construction (EPC) services and long-term service agreements for gas turbines.

“Since the day Naoki arrived at IPSC, he’s been a catalyst for a great deal of our company’s ongoing success,” said John R. Keller, president and CEO of IPSC. “His deep-rooted understanding of our industry, long history with the organization, strategic problem-solving capabilities and unrivaled work ethic made him the ideal candidate to fill this crucial, high-level position. Naoki has a bright and bullish future ahead of him at IPSC and I have no doubt that he will be a key driver of our organization’s continued growth and success in his new role as vice president of commercial operations. Congratulations, Naoki!”

Kono will be charged with developing and executing results-driven commercial strategies, overseeing sales and marketing activations, supporting contract negotiations, planning and managing all commercial operations financial needs, ensuring regulatory compliance and more.

“Having been with this organization for most of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and grow with IPSC and its team of experienced industry professionals, so it’s a true honor to come full circle with an opportunity to take on this exciting and challenging new role,” said Kono. “I am committed to helping IPSC deliver commercial operations excellence to our valued customers and look forward to contributing to the ongoing advancement and accomplishment of our innovative organization and to the power generation industry as a whole.”
