The Original Margarita Is Turning 75 This Year & to Celebrate, Cointreau Is Giving Away $75,000 for Cinco de Mayo
Pledge to enjoy all your Margaritas with Cointreau for your chance to win this Cinco de Mayo
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner and Cointreau is celebrating with America’s favorite cocktail – The Margarita. Kicking off on April 24th, Cointreau invites Margarita-drinkers across the country to join in with The Cointreau Margarita Pledge.
The Original Margarita recipe is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. First created in 1948 by Dallas socialite Margarita Sames, The Original Margarita recipe calls for Cointreau, tequila, and fresh lime juice. To celebrate 75 years of this classic cocktail, Cointreau is giving away $75,000 for consumers to enjoy their Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
With this year’s Cinco de Mayo landing on a Friday, there’s more reason to celebrate and enjoy the day. Beginning today through May 4th, consumers can sign The Cointreau Margarita Pledge, committing to enjoy all of their Margaritas with Cointreau. Select lucky winners will win a portion of $75,000 paid out by a digital payment app on Cinco de Mayo.
“75 years ago, Margarita Sames created The Original Margarita recipe with Cointreau, tequila, and lime. Cointreau is an essential ingredient in The Margarita and at the heart of more than 500 classic cocktails,” said Nicolas Beckers, President and CEO at Rémy Cointreau America. “That’s why we’re excited to celebrate this milestone while encouraging Margarita-lovers to make their favorite cocktail as it was intended, with Cointreau.”
Consumers can enter for a chance to win by heading to https://www.cointreau.com/CointreauMargaritaPledge to sign The Cointreau Margarita Pledge. On Friday, May 5th, lucky winners will be randomly selected and will receive a digital payment from Cointreau to help them celebrate.
