Project Kesher Honors Emmy Award-Winning Actress Alex Borstein at Annual Benefit

Award-winning comedian Liz Glazer joins Borstein at the organization’s first in-person gala since 2019

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Project Kesher, the grassroots advocacy group whose life-changing efforts have advanced Jewish identity, women’s empowerment and renewal in post-Soviet states since 1989, is hosting its annual benefit themed “Step Out of Line, Ladies!” on May 8 at The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.

This year’s event honors Alex Borstein, Emmy award-winning actress from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, with the Kol Isha Women’s Voice Award. An active and open supporter of Ukrainian women refugees in Spain, Borstein is a clear choice for this award, augmenting Project Kesher’s strong community of leaders and activists. Her 2019 Emmy award acceptance speech, in which she tells the story of her grandmother stepping out of line to save herself in WWII, makes Borstein a suitable partner for the venerable institution that supports grassroots advocacy for Jewish identity.

Award-winning standup comedian, actor and writer Liz Glazer will also be joining Project Kesher at the benefit. Glazer won first place in the Boston Comedy Festival and Ladies of Laughter Competition and will appear in the upcoming HBO Women in Comedy Festival.

“As the war in Ukraine continues, our Jewish communal and women’s health programs in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Israel provide relief during these hard times and we wouldn’t be able to do that without our amazing advocates,” said Karyn Gershon, CEO of Project Kesher. “We’re thrilled for all of our supporters to gather for reflection, meaningful conversations and uplifting entertainment at our first in-person benefit since 2019.”

Project Kesher’s annual benefit takes place on May 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. To learn more about the “Step Out of Line, Ladies!” benefit and register for the event, visit the website here.
