Alsana Finds Nutrition is Key to Lasting Eating Disorder Recovery

March is National Nutrition Month

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nutrition experts at Alsana, a national eating disorder recovery community, recommend All-Inclusive Nutrition as one key to eating disorder recovery. This method focuses on the usefulness of all foods rather than cutting out major groups, which many fad diets promote. When the body doesn’t get the nutrients it needs, mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, can worsen.

This March, Alsana takes advantage of National Nutrition Month to educate people on the important role nutrition plays in helping people repair their relationship with food. Its All-Inclusive Nutrition approach focuses on the flexibility and enjoyment of foods without shame or judgement.

“There aren’t any ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods – how you eat is just as important as what you eat because it nourishes your body and your mind,” said Julia Cassidy, Alsana’s vice president of clinical nutrition. “The body needs fats, carbohydrates and proteins to live – the best way for those with eating disorders to heal their relationship with food is through intuitive and mindful eating.”

Alsana’s Adaptive Care Model focuses on meeting each individual where they are in their recovery journey. This approach, coupled with Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), which helps to reduce shame and self-criticism by teaching compassion, helps those with eating disorders achieve long lasting recovery.
