March is National Ladder Safety Month

Industry group’s programs aim to abate a half-million injuries each year

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March is National Ladder Safety Month, a time to focus attention on the critical topic of ladder safety. A ladder-related fatality happens nearly every day in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a half-million people are treated for ladder-related injuries each year. The American Ladder Institute (ALI) founded National Ladder Safety Month to help reduce those numbers and promote safe use of ladders in the home and on the job.

The National Ladder Safety Month website has a host of safety and promotional materials to educate consumers about safe ladder usage (available at https://www.laddersafetymonth.com/Safety-Resources/Flyers), as well as an entire website dedicated to safety training (https://www.laddersafetytraining.org/). The user-friendly training includes an organized curriculum, video and resource library, and free registration.

Two webinars are also scheduled. Innovation Around Ladder Safety is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT, and Just Lean Into It - Getting the Most out of Your Stepladder is scheduled for Thursday, March 23, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT. The events are hosted by industry giants Werner Co. and Louisville Ladder, respectively. Online registration for each can be found at www.laddersafetymonth.com/Participate/Scheduled-Events.

ALI encourages consumers and the media to engage in ladder safety month. Ladders, seemingly common household tools, have limitations and too often those using them stretch — for even just a moment — past what is considered safe. That momentary derivation can have dire consequences. The industry trade group believes ladder accidents are preventable with thorough safety planning, training, and continuous innovation in product design. The more people, organizations, and businesses that get involved, the wider the message spreads, and the more people learn about proper ladder safety.
