Alliance Advisors to Host Webinar on the Growing Importance of the Retail Shareholders

BLOOMFIELD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alliance Advisors LLC will be hosting a webinar on the Importance of Retail Investors Shareholder Activism Voter Engagement on Thursday, March 9 at noon.

The March 9th webinar will feature Jim Miller, Senior Managing Director of Corporate Advisory Group at Alliance; Sean Donohue, a partner at Goodwin Capital Markets, and Agnies Watson, President and Co-Founder of Stockperks.

Prior to joining Alliance Advisors in 2019, Miller served as Deputy Head of Research at ISS and served on the special situations team and policy committee. In those roles, Jim provided vote recommendations to institutional investors on proxy fights and oversaw the development of that Proxy Advisor’s benchmark proxy voting guidelines related to M&A, capitalization, SPACs, proxy fights, and mutual funds. Jim is an expert on how proxy advisors apply their policies for contentious and non-contentious management and shareholder proposals.

Pass-through voting proposed by the INDEX Act; statements by BlackRock, Vanguard and other asset managers that individuals in “pooled” accounts will soon have the option to vote; combined with the prospect of voting made easy by the asset managers through which many retail shareholders are invested, leads many to predict that we could see a marked decrease in the historical voting apathy for that group of investors. Viewed in total, this broadens the need to engage all shareholders and strengthens the need to find creative ways to reach Retail Shareholders.”
