University of Phoenix Launches Student Café

Virtual event focuses on building tools to support self-advocacy and belonging

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix is pleased to announce the launch of “Bravely Belong,” a virtual student café offering a safe space for students and alumni to practice self-advocacy supported by subject matter experts (SMEs). Students, alumni and SMEs will collaboratively explore topics such as mindfulness, belonging, gratitude and boundaries. The program aims to produce meaningful discussion to help support academic and career success. The first virtual café will take place via Zoom at 11 a.m. AZT, February 28, 2023.

“Cultivating a sense of belonging is critical for our students to feel valued and heard,” states Tondra Richardson, MBA, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion. “People are craving a more meaningful, flexible and fulfilling experience at school and at work, and inclusive leaders can help support this desire. The Office of Educational Equity has seen the demand for meaningful programs, like our Inclusive Café, that build on areas of belonging in the workplace. Due to the success of our Inclusive Café, we’ve decided to offer a similar experience for our students and alumni.”

The Bravely Belong student café is part of a series of events with which the University of Phoenix Office of Educational Equity (OEE) aims to foster cultural awareness, thought leadership and community alliances to promote and sustain educational equity and diversity initiatives. The OEE supports students and faculty year-round with programs like Educational Equity Webinar Series, Inclusive Leadership Summit and an internal offering for staff and faculty, The Inclusive Café. The University’s second annual Inclusive Leadership Summit and Career Fair, May 2-4, 2023, will focus on developing skills as an inclusive leader and providing opportunities for networking connection and employment.

If you are a current University of Phoenix student or alum, register to attend the Bravely Belong student café here.
