Banner|Aetna Now Offers ACA Marketplace Plans Across Six Counties

The health insurer expands its competitively priced coverage in 2023 to include Coconino, Cochise and Yuma counties while continuing to serve consumers in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima

PHOENIX--()--Banner|Aetna, the fastest-growing health insurer in Arizona, now offers Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plans to individuals and families across Coconino, Cochise, Maricopa, Pinal, Pima and Yuma counties in 2023. Three of these offerings, including those in Maricopa, Pima and Yuma, feature the lowest cost ACA silver plan premiums available. Residents can enroll starting today via banneraetna.com or through a registered broker.

This unique joint venture, owned by Banner Health and Aetna, a CVS Health company, previously provided health insurance plans exclusively to employers in the state before expanding into the individual market in 2022. By combining the expertise and support of care providers from a renowned local health system with the resources of a national insurer, this unique structure provides a new type of coverage for people frustrated by the complexity and costs associated with navigating the health care system. Banner|Aetna also aims to improve the care experience by ensuring that doctors and hospitals work together with the insurer for the benefit of every member.

Banner|Aetna’s performance network features over 26,500 providers and is designed to help coordinate access to all types of convenient care options, whether individuals are seeking care at their neighborhood hospital or around the state. This network includes all Banner Health, HonorHealth and TMC HealthCare facilities in Arizona as well as many other care providers and hospitals like Northern Arizona Healthcare and Banner Page Hospital in Coconino County, Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma County and Canyon Vista Medical Center & Benson Hospital in Cochise County.

All of Banner|Aetna’s Gold, Silver and Bronze health plans provide no-cost annual wellness exams and other “essential health benefits” across categories of care, including mental health and substance abuse treatment, lab services, emergency, maternity and newborn care—among others. The plan also features:

  • No cost visits at MinuteClinic/HealthHUB locations that offer flexible hours, and one-on-one concierge support for acute and chronic care needs.
  • No cost on-demand, text-based primary care through 98point6, providing members with 24/7 access to board-certified doctors for diagnosis and treatment anywhere, anytime.
  • A simplified member experience that includes "frictionless billing" for any Banner Health physician and hospital, which combines billing information and explanation of benefits in an all-in-one statement to give members a clear picture of their costs and coverage.

“As an Arizona based insurance company, Banner|Aetna is thrilled to expand coverage to more people across Arizona. Our affordable individual and family plans provide flexible access to quality care across every community Banner|Aetna serves,” said Tom Grote, chief executive officer of Banner|Aetna.

The enrollment period for 2023 coverage runs Nov. 1 through Jan. 15, 2023. Convenient enrollment in Banner|Aetna plans can be completed directly through banneraetna.com, even if the applicant is receiving subsidies that lower premium costs. According to the Congressional Budget Office, more than 60 percent of uninsured Americans qualify for subsidies or financial help that can reduce the cost of coverage. Individuals can also enroll in these plans with the help of an authorized health insurance broker or on healthcare.gov.
