The UNH InterOperability Lab Plans to Launch New OCP NVMe® 1.0 & 2.0 Test Suites

DURHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, today announced they will soon be offering a new group of Open Compute Project (OCP) NVMe® 1.0 & 2.0 test suites. The new OCP NVMe testing will be offered by the UNH-IOL in early 2023 and will assist Hyper-Scaler’s use case needs. The UNH-IOL is the sole provider of NVM Express® conformance and interoperability testing that is required for products to be certified for the NVMe Integrators List. This latest test offering expands the test validation available for products in the storage industry.

The OCP NVMe 1.0 & 2.0 testing will be performing these new use case tests against NVMe target devices using the SANBlaze VirtuaLUN NVMe test tool which complements the existing set of tooling used for NVMe conformance. Manufacturers of NVMe SSDs, integrators as well as hyperscalers will have the peace of mind knowing their products will work in data center environments.

“The newly ratified Open Compute Project (OCP) NVMe Datacenter SSD test specification developed by Microsoft and Facebook addresses Hyper-Scaler's and manufacturer's needs for NVMe use case testing,” said Tim Sheehan, Manager, Datacenter Technologies, UNH-IOL. “This new test specification and implementation offered by the UNH-IOL will help to provide customers an external third party independent validation of their NVMe products.”

The UNH-IOL has 30+ years of experience working with industry to provide guidance and insight into the development of testing programs for conformance and interoperability. Working with standards bodies and open source organizations, like the OCP, the UNH-IOL continues to help better the storage industry by enhancing development needs.

“We are excited to work closely with UNH-IOL engineers to help validate Microsoft and Facebook’s new OCP NVMe Datacenter SSD test specification,” said Rick Walsh, VP of Sales and Marketing, SANBlaze. “This strategic alliance will greatly help NVMe SSD manufacturers to ensure their products are in compliance, allowing a faster time to market.”
