AM Best to Sponsor and Participate in Insurance Tech Summit Latin America

MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best will participate as a sponsor and give a presentation on managing general agents (MGA) during the upcoming Insurance Tech Summit Latin America, which takes place Aug. 29-31 in Miami, FL.

Carlos De la Torre, senior director of operations and business development for AM Best in Latin America, will give a presentation, titled, “Managing General Agents and Their Role and Impact on the (Re)Insurance Market,” at 12:10 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

AM Best groups MGAs into a broader category of delegated underwriting authority enterprises (DUAE), a blanket term that also refers to managing general underwriters, coverholders, program administrators, program underwriters, underwriting agencies, direct authorizations and appointed representatives. The DUAE segment has become an increasingly relevant part of the property/casualty market, punctuated by growth in annual direct premium generated by MGAs.

Earlier this year, AM Best introduced its Best’s Performance Assessment (PA), which provides a framework for differentiating among DUAEs. De La Torre will discuss the DUAE segment and also how Best’s PA provides a framework for differentiating among DUAEs. Anyone interested in speaking with De La Torre should contact him at carlos.delatorre@ambest.com.

AM Best is also a silver-level sponsor for the event, which will be held at the Trump International Beach Resort. For more information, please visit the event website.
