Collective Health Names Mark Laret to Board of Directors

30+ year healthcare leader and former UCSF President and CEO brings his expertise and insight to industry-leading healthcare technology company

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Collective Health announced the addition of Mark Laret, a nationally recognized healthcare operator and innovator, to its board of directors.

Mark retired from his post as UCSF Health President and CEO in December of last year, after 20+ years of service. During his tenure at UCSF Health, Mark led substantial organizational initiatives, including expanding UCSF Medical Center from a single hospital to UCSF Health, a network of hospitals, physician groups and out-patient facilities across the San Francisco Bay Area. During his tenure, UCSF was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Top 10 U.S. Hospital for 20+ consecutive years.

“Throughout my career several key themes – areas of opportunity – have informed the types of organizations I want to work for and with,” said Laret. He continued, “...those are improving quality and safety of healthcare for all, improving the patient and provider experience and lowering costs across the healthcare continuum. Collective Health spans all three and I am excited to lend my expertise and experience to helping them navigate this next phase of growth.”

Prior to his role at UCSF, Mark held leadership positions for well-known health systems, including UC Irvine Medical Center and the UCLA Medical Center, and leadership positions including chairing the California Hospital Association, the Association Of American Medical Colleges and the Council of Teaching Hospitals. In addition to his lengthy career as a CEO and executive in the care delivery space, Mark also has a passion for working with healthcare startups. He believes technology plays a vital role in this new era of healthcare by increasing efficiency, accuracy, quality of experience, and outcomes. Mark serves on the board of healthcare organizations like Viz.ai, BCBS of Arizona, UrgentMED, NovaSignal, and Regard. Through his board appointments, he is deeply committed to helping senior leaders scale their organizations while maintaining quality and sustainability.

“Mark is intimately familiar with the complexities of our healthcare system,” said Ali Diab, CEO and Founder of Collective Health. “He understands traditional solutions for addressing increasing demand are unsustainable and that a tech-driven solution like ours – focused on access, navigation, and transparency – will help address these unprecedented demands. We are thrilled Mark has joined our board, and we look forward to benefiting from his decades of healthcare and leadership experience.”

The announcement of Mark’s joining the board follows Collective Health’s recent additions of a Chief Growth Officer and Chief Clinical Officer to its senior leadership team. The company, which has grown to more than 700 employees, now has more than 60 clients across several industries and serves members across all 50 states.
