Live And Invest Overseas Reveals Seven Best International Summer Destinations for 2022

Travel experts Kathleen Peddicord and Lief Simon announce top international destinations to add to summer travel bucket list

NEW YORK--()--Live And Invest Overseas, the leading resource for people who want to live, retire, and invest overseas, announced today its seven best international destinations for summer travel in 2022: Turks and Caicos; Madeira, Portugal; Kotor, Montenegro; Ceará, Brazil; Malta; Salta, Argentina; and Caño Cristales, Colombia.

“It is our hope that families, couples, and solo travelers will all consider exploring these unique international destinations for a vacation getaway this summer,” commented Kathleen Peddicord, travel and international investment expert. “Americans probably do not have most of these beautiful locations on their bucket list, but they should, as each one provides an enriching experience.”

The list includes:

Turks and Caicos
In 2021, the Caribbean Travel Awards named Turks and Caicos the Luxury Destination of the Year. This destination offers spectacular beaches and coral reefs that are sparsely populated, providing guests with a relaxing and secluded experience. As a luxury destination, a one-week stay can cost around $9,000 for a couple at a beachfront resort with activities, excluding airfare.

Madeira, Portugal
Madeira has been named the world’s best island by the World Travel Awards for six consecutive years. Madeira is extremely safe with little to no crime and has no COVID restrictions upon entry. For Americans, this location is a steal. Portugal’s currency is the Euro (EUR) which is currently weak against the U.S. dollar, giving Americans a discount. Madeira beaches Porto Santo and Seixal are rated among the best in Europe by European Best Destinations, and with its low population density, you won’t be competing for a spot on the beach.

Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor has great weather and world-class marinas at an affordable price. Its medieval Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noteworthy for its ancient city walls and centuries-old buildings. Similar to Portugal, Montenegro also uses the Euro, providing Americans a U.S. dollar discount. Montenegro is an adventure tourism destination with plenty of activities such as white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, kitesurfing, paragliding, and more. With a similar landscape as Croatia, Kotor is a less dense and cheaper option. Montenegro has dropped all COVID-related entry requirements, including proof of vaccination.

Ceará, Brazil
Ceará offers 370 miles of coastline with a range of beach types and high white sand dunes. State capital Fortaleza is the beating heart of cultural activity in Ceará, renowned for its buzzing nightlife and charming colonial architecture. The fifth-biggest city in Brazil, it provides all big-city amenities and ambiance, yet quaint fishing villages can also be enjoyed in Ceará. Canoa Quebrada and Jericoacoara are two popular but low-key options. The Brazilian real is currently down, making it a cheaper option if spending the U.S. dollar.

Malta
As the smallest capital in the EU, Malta’s capital Valletta is jam-packed with treasures for a history buff. It was selected as the European Capital of Culture in 2018. In the summer months, the country hosts a wide range of exciting events and festivals that cater to diverse interests. Notably, this is the only place where you can experience the famed Mediterranean way of life among locals who speak English. Malta also uses the Euro as its currency.

Salta, Argentina
Argentina’s Salta Province stands out for its incredible desert landscapes, outdoor recreation opportunities, wine culture, and attractive capital city of the same name. Salta city has a strong Spanish aesthetic, making it the perfect place to admire Argentina’s historical architecture. With a mix of Spanish and guacho influence, Salta is a unique cultural hub with museums, theaters, exhibits, shows, folk music clubs (peñas), and more. Although the U.S. summer season corresponds with winter in Salta, the weather is milder than other regions of Argentina. In August, Argentina celebrates Pachamama, a month-long festival dedicated to Mother Earth with traditional offerings and ceremonies.

Caño Cristales, Colombia
Named the “Liquid Rainbow” for its multi-hued algae in La Macarena National Park, Caño Cristales is a beautiful summer destination. From July to October, the algae in its rivers are in full bloom, turning the water shocking shades of yellow, blue, black, green, and above all, red. The national park also has many sights to see such as savannahs, unique rock formations, and an array of birds and wildlife.
