Sundiata Acoli Released; Reunited With His Family

BROOKLYN, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Bring Sundiata Acoli Home Alliance is pleased to share that on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Sundiata Acoli walked out of prison into the arms of his family and loved ones. As you can imagine, after 49 years, Mr. Acoli is finally able to spend time with his family and we want to make sure we respect these precious moments.

The New Jersey Supreme Court correctly upheld the law on May 10, 2022, granting the release of 85-year-old Mr. Acoli. The Supreme Court ruled that the state Parole Board unlawfully denied his petition for release by claiming that Mr. Acoli was a risk to public safety and noted that he has shown no substantial risk of recidivism or a risk to public safety.
