Today’s announcement builds on other industry-first capabilities introduced by PlanetScale, including PlanetScale Rewind, an “Easy Button” to undo schema migrations instantly; serverless database branching and sharding, and a managed cloud offering for companies with regulatory requirements and compliance constraints. New innovations announced today:

• PlanetScale Insights leverage PlanetScale’s unique ability to record every single query, giving users detailed database performance metrics and enabling them to identify troubling queries in seconds. Fully-integrated, real-time insights into database performance are provided without having to install a third-party APM, and increase performance by allowing users to see which queries could be optimized in real-time. This also lets users see how many rows their queries scanned to better understand their billing usage. Graphs time-stamped with deploy requests and schema changes show how releases are affecting performance.
• PlanetScale Portals put data where users and applications are, enabling users to create read-only database regions to support globally-distributed applications and better serve their users worldwide. It provides low operational overhead, lower database read latency and enhanced performance, globally.
• PlanetScale Connect lets users do more with their data by making it accessible across the whole organization to enable high-speed analytics. Leveraging PlanetScale’s Airbyte connector, users can now extract and safely load data from PlanetScale into other platforms, such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift, for analytical queries. It supports analytical workflows without concerns for corrupting production data.
