TORONTO & CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--League, the leading healthcare consumer experience platform, today announced changes to its advisory board that involve two healthcare industry veterans. Harry Leider, MD, MBA, a former Walgreens executive and current chief medical officer and executive vice president of Gelesis, will join the advisory board as a new member. League also named Mike Butler the new chair of the board. A healthcare operating partner at Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe who formerly led Providence Health and Services, Butler joined League’s advisory board in 2021. Together, they bring a combined six decades of diverse experience in the healthcare field.

Dr. Leider has served as the CMO and EVP of the biopharmaceutical company Gelesis since 2018, where he leads the overall clinical strategy. He provides executive leadership for all research and development projects and serves as the most senior clinical spokesperson for the company with professional associations, patient advocacy groups and other healthcare organizations. Prior to Gelesis, he was the chief medical officer and group vice president at Walgreens. In that role, he provided executive leadership for all clinical program development, quality assessment, health outcomes research, health analytics and clinical reporting activities across the enterprise. Dr. Leider is a current faculty member and former president and chairman of the board at the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Mike Butler was an executive at Providence Health and Services for 22 years, where he held a number of executive leadership roles, including president, COO, and CFO and oversaw a wide range of departments including ambulatory and hospital operations, finance, strategy, technology, digital innovation, clinical institutes, population health, and people development. In his time there, Providence expanded from a health system that generated $2 billion in annual revenue to $25 billion. In 2020, he was named a healthcare operating partner Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe, a leading U.S. private equity firm, where he advises the next healthcare technology leaders on their best growth path.
