Gore Range Capital Congratulates Dr. Seemal Desai on His Appointment as 2024 President of the American Academy of Dermatology

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seemal R. Desai, MD, FAAD, a member of Gore Range Capital’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), has been elected incoming President-Elect of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). His elected service to the American Academy of Dermatology will span a three-year period starting 2023 as President-Elect, President in 2024 and Immediate Past-President in 2025.

Dr. Desai is a board-certified dermatologist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of vitiligo and other disorders of pigmentation, psoriasis, acne, skin disease in skin of color, cosmeceuticals, and aesthetics.

Dr. Desai has been very active with numerous medical organizations. He is the Immediate Past President of the Skin of Color Society, Past President of the Texas Dermatological Society, and the Past President of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Dermatological Society. Dr. Desai serves on the Board of Directors of the Women's Dermatologic Society, the Board of Directors of the Global Vitiligo Foundation, and has been on the Board of Directors of SkinPAC and the Skin of Color Society.

Dr. Desai was the youngest dermatologist elected to the American Academy of Dermatology Board of Directors, where he also served on the Executive Committee. In 2017, Dr. Desai was appointed to serve on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC).

Dr. Desai graduated with honors from Emory University. He received his medical training at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with Magna Cum Laude (honors). Dr. Desai completed his medical internship in Internal Medicine. He completed his residency at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and served as Chief Resident for the Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Desai is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, and serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He also serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical & Aesthetic Dermatology and Pigment International and participates on numerous editorial advisory boards.

He is a world-renowned expert in skin of color and pigmentation, the author of multiple publications, and has been invited to present at numerous national and international dermatology events.

Dr. Desai enjoys spending his free time with his wife, daughter, and son traveling, trying new restaurants, meeting new people, playing trivia games, exercising, and enjoying the outdoors.
