PEMCO Mutual Insurance Welcomes New Director of Risk Management & Internal Audit

Scott Newman has joined the company’s legal team

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PEMCO Mutual Insurance recently welcomed Scott Newman as director of risk management and internal audit. Newman is returning to PEMCO after previously serving as the company’s director of internal audit, and brings more than two decades of experience in leading risk and audit teams for organizations across the Northwest.

In this role, Newman will primarily focus on building upon PEMCO’s existing internal audit program and risk management systems in alignment with and supporting PEMCO’s strategy.

Most recently, Newman served as senior vice president and general auditor for Tacoma-based Columbia Bank where he directed the institution’s audit and loan review functions and oversaw the bank's governance, risk management, and internal control processes. Previously he was also Russell Investment’s director of internal audit.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Newman is dedicated to serving his Northwest communities. He previously served as chair of the University of Washington Tacoma’s School of Urban Studies Advisory Board. In addition, he was recently appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee as a Public Board Member of the Washington State Board of Accountancy. Newman also supports several causes, including the Providence Hospice Foundation of Seattle, the Movember Foundation and Tacoma Rescue Mission.

Outside of work and volunteering in the community, Newman enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and traveling with his family.
