DAC International Receives STC Certification for TS-60 Emergency Power Supply

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DAC International, Inc. (DAC), an AllClear Aerospace & Defense (AllClear) company, in partnership with Peregrine Aviation (Peregrine) have received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration, for the Mid-Continent TS-60 Emergency Power Supply. This AML STC ST01086DE will cover over thirteen different business jet aircraft types including the Challenger 600 and the Hawker 800/900/1000 series aircraft.

Engineered to offer distinct advantages over nickel-cadmium (NiCad) alternatives, the hermetically sealed, non-venting TS-60 is the first lithium-ion battery to meet new and rigorous Technical Standard Order (TSO) C179b requirements. The TS-60 is a direct replacement for Honeywell/Grimes legacy power supplies and offers easy installation and reduced maintenance costs.

“I am proud of the combined team’s efforts to get the True Blue STC approved by the FAA,” said Kevin Kuhn, Vice President and General Manager AllClear’s Engineered Products segment. “This adds to the long list of STCs that DAC uses to provide our customers with the best products for their aircraft. In addition, I’m excited that this STC covers multiple airframe types and over 2000 aircraft could benefit from this upgrade.”

Tom Genovese, Director of Commercial Transport and Defense, with True Blue Power, a division of Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics stated, “Operators will benefit from the TS60’s proven design that will reduce maintenance and servicing and improve dispatch reliability compared to the original Ni-Cad batteries that were used in these aircraft.”

“Working with our partners, DAC International and True Blue Power, we developed an approved model list STC to integrate and certify a safe, reliable, and technically-advanced means of powering the emergency lighting system on these legacy jets. We look forward to helping Part 25 aircraft operators as they upgrade to this solution,” added Dave Rankin, President of Peregrine.
