Landmark New York City Property One Vanderbilt Announces Installation of WellAir’s Clean Air Technology as Workers Return To Office

The tallest office tower in Midtown Manhattan’s cutting-edge office space takes a thoughtful approach to indoor air quality

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WellAir, a leading provider of indoor air disinfection and purification solutions, today announced the installation of its Plasma Air HVAC air purification products in One Vanderbilt Avenue, the skyline-defining tower in the heart of East Midtown. The products have been deployed across its own office floors, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and tenant and public spaces, including the lobby, transit hall, amenity floor and Le Pavillon.

Amid case counts continuing to drop and many companies announcing new return-to-the-office dates, WellAir solutions are being deployed nationwide across a variety of commercial, healthcare and educational environments to help keep indoor environments safer for life’s most important assets, from employees to families.

“Our teams of research scientists and engineers are singularly focused on the hygiene of indoor spaces. We are thrilled to deliver our solution to such an extraordinary property as One Vanderbilt,” said Steve Grenon, Chief Technology Officer of WellAir. “Being chosen as the indoor air quality solution for this property is a testament to our decade of scientific research and development. We have invested heavily in testing both in third-party labs and in real-world scenarios to ensure that our solutions are safe and effective.”

The 1,401-foot-tall skyscraper is located at the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Known for its incredible space and views of New York City, it is the headquarters of leading global companies such as MSD Partners, TD Securities and Mamoura Holdings, among others.

“We worked closely with our longstanding partner, Trane Technologies, to identify the right product to deploy at One Vanderbilt. WellAir’s strong foundation in healthcare and established footprint in commercial, hospitality, entertainment and residential markets made them the right choice to provide a safe, effective and easy-to-install solution,” said Edward V. Piccinich, Chief Operating Officer of SL Green, which owns and developed the property. “We value the health and safety of our tenants and recognize that indoor air quality is crucial for both companies and their employees as they return to office.”

WellAir’s Plasma Air HVAC air purification products were installed in One Vanderbilt in 2021 and have been undergoing evaluation to ensure smooth operations and quality performance in the building. In recent third-party laboratory testing, WellAir’s Plasma Air technology was shown to reduce the live SARS-CoV-2 virus by 99.99 percent in 90 minutes. Additionally, the products have demonstrated improvement in indoor air quality by reducing a variety of VOCs and virus sized particles in a real-world environment. * WellAir is also one of the few companies to have their entire line of HVAC air purification solutions validated to UL 2998 standard — proving that the products are ozone-free.

“We have been partnering with several real estate companies, including SL Green Realty, to help ensure that buildings are creating the healthy environments for a workforce that has never been more attuned to the importance of indoor air quality,” said Mark Schmidt, Executive Vice President of In-Duct Solutions at WellAir. “We are proud to be one of the few companies with a broad portfolio of indoor air quality products to suit a variety of needs – from office spaces to schools and homes.”
