Ottawans Invited to Show Support for Safety, Respect and Dignity in Their Community This Saturday

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the wake of the three-week-long occupation of downtown Ottawa, Community Solidarity Ottawa will host a community meet-up and reach-out this Saturday, February 26, to show support for residents and workers whose lives have been disrupted.

Participants from across the region will come together to check in on their neighbours, reconnect as a community, support local businesses and distribute postcards and posters promoting Ottawa as a hate-free zone.

Even with the occupation pushed out of downtown Ottawa, residents know their safety, security and dignity are still under threat. A clear message needs to be sent to both the far-right occupiers, and the authorities who for weeks enabled them, that residents of Ottawa have the right to real safety, dignity, and respect.

This event builds on a rally and march organized by Community Solidarity Ottawa that attracted thousands to walk through The Glebe two weeks ago and will help promote a follow-up march planned for next Saturday, March 5. Details on the March 5 rally and march will follow in the coming days.
