FOLLOWING $125 MILLION SERIES C, EUROPEAN-BASED INVESTTECH MOONFARE, LAUNCHES IN U.S.

As private markets boom, digital wealth management platform expands footprint, allowing investors to participate directly in global Private Equity opportunities with low-entry minimums

As part of their mission to democratize access to private markets for qualified individuals, European-based alternative investment platform, Moonfare, announces its U.S. debut. Following a $125 million Series C led by US-based technology investor Insight Partners, Moonfare is now opening some of the world’s most exclusive Private Equity and Venture Capital funds to individual investors in the U.S.

Allowing access to funds beyond geographic and traditional market borders, Moonfare provides clients diversified, top-tier private markets investments at their fingertips with cutting-edge technology. Unlike other investment strategies with clunky on-boarding processes, Moonfare’s digital platform allows its clients to register, complete KYC and digitally sign documents, all within 15 minutes. To date, more than 2,200 investors have invested $1.5B in 45 Private Equity and Growth funds through the platform, including funds from landmark names such as KKR, The Carlyle Group, IVP, and Khosla Ventures.

Steffen Pauls, Moonfare’s CEO and former KKR Managing Director and seasoned industry veteran, founded the company in 2016 and has had his sights set on the U.S. market for quite some time.

“We are thrilled to expand our global footprint,” said Steffen Pauls. “Entering the U.S. market will provide a tremendous opportunity allowing us to use our proprietary technology platform to create a unique experience for like-minded investors who are bullish on pursuing investments into private markets unavailable to them in the past.”

A global, first-of-its-kind digital private equity investment platform, Moonfare enables a new class of sophisticated qualified investors to invest directly in a selection of curated, top-tier private equity funds with low-entry minimums ($125,000). The platform also allows for secondary sales and purchases, bringing liquidity to an illiquid asset class for the first time.

While this level of investment access has historically only been available to a limited and reserved category of institutional investors, Moonfare is breaking the mold through establishing partnerships and opportunities with category-leading global Private Equity funds. In addition to direct fund investments, Moonfare’s platform offers both buyout and growth equity portfolios, the world’s first digital private equity secondary market, as well as oversight of due diligence, fund structuring, cash flow management and administration of the investments.

“With the rapid transformation of the Private Equity space, we listened to our clients and are creating entirely new opportunities for them,” said Dimitrios Magiakos, Head of Moonfare USA. “We provide a user-friendly, high-end experience for our clients that gives them access to industry leading fund managers and high-quality, vetted investment opportunities.”

Additionally, as part of the U.S. launch roadmap, Moonfare is building out a team of world-class financial leaders, as well as enhancing their product offering and dedicating resources to its best-in-class technology. Moonfare USA will be headquartered in New York City, the financial capital of the world.
