Tillman Networks Welcomes Former PG&E CEO and AT&T Executive as Chairman

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tillman Networks (“TN”) announced today that Bill Smith has been appointed Chairman of the company.

Mr. Smith was most recently interim CEO of PG&E, the nation's largest utility, having joined the board in October of 2019. He served in the role of CEO until a permanent successor was named at the beginning of 2021. During his time as interim CEO, Mr. Smith managed the emergence from bankruptcy, closed several legal actions against the company, began operational and management restructuring, managed operational issues at the Diablo Canyon nuclear facility, and recruited several of the new PG&E leaders.

Bill Smith retired as President, AT&T Technology Operations in September 2016. In that role he was responsible for all technical operations, planning and engineering, compute, storage, customer care and network operations, including integrated IT command and control functions, global fleet and transportation management across the company’s global service footprint.

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Mr. Smith graduated with honors from North Carolina State University at Raleigh in 1979. He is involved in a number of non-profit organizations within the Dallas community. He also serves on many Boards. He previously served as Chair Elect for Dallas CASA, a non-profit organization serving the best interest of children in the community, as past Board Chair for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama, and the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
