HJF Hosts the Inaugural HJF Leadership Roundtable

BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF), hosted a Leadership Roundtable, bringing together leaders from the civilian and military medical research communities.

HJF is uniquely situated at the intersection of the military medical research community, other federal researchers, and private industry. As a nonprofit authorized by the United States Congress to support military medical research, HJF has extensive experience in advancing military medicine. HJF also works with private industry partners to advance the development of products that benefit service members and their families. A number of these innovations are licensed by HJF and were born out of military medical research.

“HJF’s Leadership Roundtable is intended to bring together leaders in the public and private sectors to discuss topics related to military and veteran health,” said HJF President and CEO Dr. Joseph Caravalho. “The goal is to generate discussions to identify gaps in research relating to military, veteran, and civilian health and, ultimately, to develop synergy between public and private sectors to best address these issues.”

The inaugural sponsors of the HJF Leadership Roundtable include Lockheed Martin and Humana Military.

This first meeting focused on the DoD’s contributions to the fight against COVID-19. HJF invited some of the top military and civilian scientists working on COVID-19 to provide presentations on the importance of public-private collaborations, lessons learned from the response to COVID-19, and, most importantly, how to plan for the next global pandemic.
