Jabil Healthcare Bray Awarded Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jabil Healthcare Bray, a manufacturing site of Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL), has been awarded the world’s highest standard for organizational and operational excellence: the Shingo Prize. Awarded by the Shingo Institute, a program in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, which recognizes organizations that demonstrate an exceptional culture of continuous improvement, Bray is the first Jabil site to apply for Shingo recognition and becomes one of only 190 organizations globally to receive the Shingo Institute’s highest award.

Jabil Healthcare Bray specializes in the design, development and commercial scale up of complex and innovative healthcare products while also partnering with some of the largest packaging customers in the world. Offering world-class capabilities in design, injection moulding, complex assembly for industrialization and finished pharmaceutical packaging, Jabil Healthcare Bray manufactured more than 1.7 billion products and components in 2019 for the respiratory, ophthalmic, diagnostic, renal health care and packaging markets.

To attain the award, seven Shingo Examiners over four days reviewed the site against the Shingo Model™ and its Guiding Principles. Examiners observed behavior and determined the frequency, duration, intensity and scope of the desired principle-based behavior. They also observed the degree to which leaders focus on principles and culture, and managers focus on aligning systems to drive ideal behaviors at all levels.

“Manufacturing high-quality products have been taking place on this site for over 40 years,” said Jabil Healthcare Bray General Manager Kevin Heffernan. “The Shingo principles have served us well in navigating challenging times, continuously improving and adapting to meet the changing needs of our customers. Shingo enables us to create value and deliver exceptional results for our customers, the world’s largest pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic companies.”

“Customers seek out partners who are consistent, reliable and accountable,” said Jabil Healthcare Europe Senior Director of Operations Padhraic McGinn. “Over the last ten years, the Bray site has demonstrated its commitment to continually improve to better serve its customers and that dedication has been formally and externally recognized with the Shingo Prize. Congratulations to the team in Bray on this fantastic achievement.”

Jabil Healthcare Bray will be presented with the Shingo Prize at the 34th Annual Shingo Conference on May 19 & 20, 2022 in Orlando, Florida.
