MIT's Sloan School and Dynasty Financial Partners Launch "Advisor to CEO Program" to Help Independent RIA Leaders Grow Best-in-Class Advisory Firms

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--()--Dynasty Financial Partners and MIT Sloan School of Management announced today that they are launching an executive education program exclusively for fully independent advisors leading RIAs. Entitled the "Advisor to CEO Program," the hallmark of the offering is a three-day event scheduled for May 2022 on MIT’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“At Dynasty, we have enjoyed a wonderful history of helping advisors launch their own firms. For these CEOs, it can often be lonely at the top and we believe there is a lack of industry support in this area. Our goal is to help these leaders transition from being a top advisor within a larger organization to a CEO of a top RIA with potentially multiple business lines and offices,” remarked Gordon Ross, Director at Dynasty Financial Partners. “Dynasty chose MIT amongst the top American business schools because they have a deep understanding of the wealth management industry and a proven track record of imparting transferrable CEO skills that benefit clients and employees.”

In addition to the MIT on-campus event, Dynasty CEOs will engage in:

1) Intimate CEO-only roundtables to encourage relationship building and peer-sharing
2) Interactive fireside chats on key leadership topics
3) Optional self-assessment on personal leadership and work style
4) Voluntary one-on-one follow-up coaching to reinforce learnings

“Clearly, successful financial advisors understand the wealth management space, but once they launch and lead their own RIA, they are confronted with the need to create advanced signals of value and develop new ways to get their businesses discovered – things they never dealt with before at their previous financial institutions. It’s also their first time managing people and navigating a much broader product and service solution universe,” said Court Chilton, MIT Sloan Business School. “At MIT, we supply a research-based framework to help CEOs identify and approach the problems and opportunities they face in a highly collaborative and connective learning environment.”

As Dynasty continues to launch new firms, the Advisor to CEO Program will become a flagship offering for first time CEOs and will continue to engage program graduates as their CEO journeys progress. MIT chose to collaborate with Dynasty on this venture based on a shared goal to build an impactful community of leaders and companies.

Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education, Dr. Peter Hirst, also adds, “The mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world and generate ideas that advance management practice. We believe that the Advisor to CEO Program aligns closely with this mission statement, and look forward to the impact this program will create for all those who attend, engage, and participate. These new and growing businesses create high quality, sustainable jobs in the companies themselves and in the other businesses they help support through the efficient and effective allocation of capital throughout the economy. MIT’s Sloan School of Management, where modern finance was invented, and in a location with arguably the highest density of innovation anywhere in the world, is the perfect place to help propel these new businesses and their founders / CEOs on a path to growth and success.”

Dynasty’s Co-Founder and CEO Shirl Penney added, “I wish I had a program like this to assist me when I became a CEO for the first time nearly 11 years ago. I look forwarded to sharpening my entrepreneurial and leadership skills alongside the CEOs who will be going through this program. Truly independent advisors (RIAs) who own their own ADVs, own their brands, own most of the equity in their businesses are quickly realizing that the firms that will win disproportionately in the future are the ones that have the best leaders. Dynasty feels that this investment in the professional development of their network firms will future differentiate what it means for an RIA to be Powered by Dynasty. Lastly, we could not be more proud of our partnership with MIT Sloan School of Management on this most important initiative of creating more and better leaders in the much needed industry of wealth management.”
