Jim Blankenhorn Named to Lead Amentum Technical Services

Blankenhorn assumes new Amentum role

GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Amentum, a leading contractor to U.S. federal and allied governments, announced today that Jim Blankenhorn, an Amentum Senior Vice President and experienced environmental services and nuclear industry veteran, has been named to lead Amentum’ s Technical Services business, effective October 25, 2021.

In this role, Mr. Blankenhorn will oversee all aspects of the Technical Services organization, which provides engineering, design, complex facility operations, safety management and environmental services for Amentum’s domestic and international customers. Technical Services provides integrated solutions that reduce the risk associated with the most hazardous, complex sites and facilities for clients that include the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Energy, the Federal Aviation Administration, nuclear utilities, national laboratories, and other commercial, state, and federal organizations.

Mr. Blankenhorn has more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear and environmental management industry. His most recent position was Amentum Senior Vice President for Operations, serving as sector lead for Nuclear Operations and Cleanup. Among other positions in the industry, Jim was previously the Deputy Project Manager and Chief Operating Officer for the Amentum-led Nuclear Waste Partnership, LLC at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, N.M. Prior to joining WIPP in March 2014, Mr. Blankenhorn was Chief Operating Officer of Perma-Fix Environmental Services and had previous assignments as Deputy Project manager for West Valley Environmental Services, LLC, and Program Director for the Waste Disposition Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Jim also served in various roles at the Savannah River Site, including Chief Engineer, Deputy Area Operations Manager, and Facility Manager. He recently retired as a brigadier general after serving for more than 33 years with responsibilities for all Army Reserve Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear forces.
