AmeriHealth Caritas Appoints Mark Grippi Market President of its Ohio Medicaid Plan

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, announced it has appointed Mark Grippi as market president of its Ohio Medicaid plan, AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio. In this role, Grippi will be responsible for the plan’s strategic direction, growth, and leadership. In April 2021, AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio was chosen to be one of seven health plans serving Ohio’s Medicaid managed care program. Coverage is scheduled to begin in July 2022.

“We are committed to building an Ohio team with deep roots in the state and its communities. Mark’s Ohio-based expertise and record of strong leadership in support of Ohioans aligns with our mission, and demonstrates our commitment to the state and the well-being of its Medicaid members,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Chairman and CEO Paul A. Tufano. “We welcome Mark to his new role and look forward to carrying out our mission among individuals and communities most in need.”

Grippi comes to AmeriHealth Caritas with more than 20 years of leadership experience in Ohio’s health care system and other Medicaid health plans. Mark previously served as chief operating officer for Aetna’s Louisiana Medicaid plan, and has held leadership roles at Ohio-based CareSource, Evercare, several Ohio skilled nursing facilities, and the Cleveland Clinic. Grippi is a graduate of Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio.

“I’m excited to join an organization like AmeriHealth Caritas which is highly regarded for its community presence and focus on the broader factors which influence health,” said Grippi. “Having spent much of my life in Ohio, I’m confident AmeriHealth Caritas will accomplish great things here, and I look forward to leading that effort.”
