Avenue 8 Names Recognized Real Estate Innovator Richard Grossman as President, Brokerage

Widely-Respected Industry Leader and Former Regional President, Brown Harris Stevens, to Lead East Coast Expansion for Residential Real Estate Brokerage

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Avenue 8, the industry’s only mobile-first residential real estate brokerage, today announced the appointment of longtime northeast real estate executive and former Brown Harris Stevens President - Regional, Richard Grossman, as President, Brokerage. In this role, Grossman will be responsible for strategic management and growth of the brokerage’s East Coast presence and team, with a broad mandate to drive agent development and expansion across the entire eastern United States.

“Richard has long established himself as both a rainmaker and a ringleader, with one of the most impressive sales team records in the northeast and the deep respect of his colleagues and the industry at large,” said Justin Fichelson, co-founder, Avenue 8. “Richard is unrivaled at business development and brokerage leadership, sourcing unique opportunities through his broad network, personal connections and loyal following of agents and clients. What’s more, he’s been able to achieve these wins while mentoring and inspiring the agents around him so that they too realize their own successes.”

With nearly four decades of residential and commercial real estate experience in the northeast and beyond, Richard is recognized as an innovative real estate leader with a team of agents he has mentored throughout his career. Under his stewardship, Richard and his team of top-producing brokers have sold upwards of $50 billion in real estate. He has been credited with guiding a team of agents through their own successes, with five of the last ten “Rookie of the Years” named by the Real Estate Board of New York developing their careers under Richard. He also has deep expertise with complex residential real estate transactions, including co-ops and condominiums, and has been involved with the conversion of more than 30 rental buildings to cooperative or condominium ownership.

“Few are as knowledgeable about the East Coast real estate market as Richard,” said Michael Martin, co-founder, Avenue 8. “Not only does he have the tenure, skill and vision to effectively expand Avenue 8’s footprint on the east coast and beyond, but he embodies the forward-thinking approach we took with Avenue 8 and is the kind of innovator we want on our leadership team.”

“I’ve always believed that it requires both opportunity and infrastructure to be successful, and Avenue 8 has figured out how to synthesize both. Its unique digital-first model and approach to luxury real estate appeals to the astute, nimble and entrepreneurial agents of today, redefining how real estate is bought and sold across the industry,” said Richard Grossman. “While others have attempted to modernize real estate, Avenue 8 is the first to create a platform that offers what agents, buyers and sellers actually need and nothing they don’t. This approach has fundamentally changed the relationship between agents and brokerages, making the business more efficient and profitable for both.”

Prior to serving as President of Halstead, before its merger with Brown Harris Stevens, Richard was the Senior Vice President and Director of Sales for Heron Properties, where he was responsible for creating the sales division for one of New York's most prestigious management firms, which quickly grew to 25 sales agents under his direction. Prior to Heron, Richard was the Director of Sales for Hahn & Mann Realty, Inc. and started his career at J.H. Taylor Real Estate, two venerable Manhattan-based firms. Richard is the past President of the Brevoort East, a luxury building in Greenwich Village and a Board Member instrumental in raising funds for the NYC AIDS Memorial. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and has a degree in Real Estate Analysis from New York University.

Avenue 8 was built expressly to make all residential real estate agents more mobile, nimble and effective, while also allowing them to keep more of their income. Avenue 8 has seen rapid monthly agent growth and 95% customer retention since launching in March 2020, due in large part to the unique technology powering the Avenue 8 platform, which produces 4x more effective marketing ROI than industry benchmarks, while also saving agents hundreds of hours and unlocking millions of dollars in potential commissions. The company remains laser-focused on staying ahead of demand by bringing on top industry talent to lead key business functions, and consistently launches platform upgrades and new service offerings to the market.
