Promising Numbers Continue for Cayman’s Insurance Industry According to CIMA’s Latest Statistics

GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Cayman Islands Monetary Authorities (CIMA) recently published statistics showing 2021 is on track for another successful year for Cayman’s insurance industry.

CIMA has licensed 20 new (re)insurers as at end June 2021 compared to 12 licences issued in the same period in 2020 and 36 issued in total in 2020.

The Authority commentated, “The Authority is pleased with the continued growth of the Cayman Islands’ international insurance sector even at a time when a global pandemic continues to pose serious challenges to corporates and economies. This growth is a testament to the Cayman Islands’ leading position as a strong, safe and reliable international (re)insurance jurisdiction.”

With the industry being on track to have another record year, the Insurance Managers Association has decided to move forward with a virtual version of the Cayman Captive Forum 2021. The forum is scheduled to take place November 30th – December 2nd.

Jackie Campbell, Forum Committee Chair, added, “While we are disappointed that we are unable to welcome our clients, friends and colleagues back to Cayman this year, we are excited to host what promises to be an excellent conference in a virtual format. We are hopeful we will be able to move forward with an in-person program again in 2022.
