FMG Leading Continues to Expand Human Capital Advisory Capabilities with New Principal Dr. Scott Thomas

Record-level demand for talent drives need for expertise in culture building, leader development and organizational and talent strategies.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To further support organizations across the U.S. looking to maximize the value and impact of their people, human capital advisory firm FMG Leading has announced the addition of Dr. Scott Thomas, who joins the firm as a Principal. A senior strategist who has worked within and alongside some of the world’s most reputable companies, he brings deep experience spearheading and driving complex initiatives tied to organizational strategy, leader development, workplace culture and organizational effectiveness.

Dr. Thomas joins FMG Leading at a time when top business leaders are pressed to think deeply about the human capital needs of their organizations. Amidst record-level demand for talent, CEOs, private equity firm leaders and other executives have increasingly internalized the importance of creating and maintaining the kinds of organizations, cultures and leaders that best attract and retain people.

“Today’s labor market has raised the stakes for leaders who might have formerly overlooked human capital issues without noticeable impact on their business,” said Dr. Matt Brubaker, CEO of FMG Leading. “With Dr. Thomas as part of our team, we can expand our capabilities to a broader universe of such leaders, helping them navigate people-oriented challenges that, when left unaddressed, can thwart plans for profitability and growth.”

Dr. Thomas joins FMG Leading from Raines International, where he was Managing Director, Global Head of Leadership and Organizational Transformation. He previously served as a Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry within the Leadership Development Advisory practice. He also led the Global Organizational Analytics function for McKinsey & Company, and was a senior member of the Katzenbach Center at Strategy& (now part of PwC). Earlier in his career, he led Performance Management at Google and Leadership Development at GE Digital.

Dr. Thomas earned his B.A. in Psychology from Penn State University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from DePaul University. His research has been published in Harvard Business Review, Forbes Magazine, Strategy+, and Personnel Psychology.

“The talent and culture challenges keeping leaders up at night are indeed significant but not insurmountable,” said Dr. Thomas. “Solving for them starts with really listening to one’s people and assessing what they need to succeed on the job, but then requires organizations to respond and adapt based on the findings and the realities of our new business normal.”
