New Innovation from GeoStabilization International®

Remote Operated Modular Launcher System increases capabilities for slope stabilization

COMMERCE CITY, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GeoStabilization International® brings advanced technology to slope stabilization with its new Remote Operated Launcher System. Slope stability is critical for maintaining safe and sustainable infrastructure. This cutting-edge solution increases crew capabilities and productivity by providing flexible and customizable carrier configurations for the launched soil nail stabilization method adaptable to virtually any slope angle and slope length.

The Remote Operated Launcher System uses the same air cannon technology as the Soil Nail LauncherTM, which has been providing slope stabilization for more than two decades. By decoupling the air compressor from the excavator, the system can now be attached to smaller, more maneuverable equipment. Doing so reduces the equipment footprint and impact on traffic flow, while providing crews more mobility to traverse steep slopes and safely access difficult-to-reach areas, often without the need for temporary benching – making an already innovative tool more versatile.

“For more than two decades, GeoStabilization International has been developing new technologies and approaches to ensure we are consistently providing the best value to our customers,” said Colby Barrett, CEO of GeoStabilization International. “The new Remote Operated Launcher System is a testament to our passion for developing state-of-the-art solutions to protect people and infrastructure from the dangers of geohazards.”

The Remote Operated Launcher System uses high-pressure compressed air technology to rapidly install soil nails at a speed of nearly 250 miles per hour without producing drill cuttings or spoils. The 1.5-inch diameter, 20-foot-long steel or fiberglass soil nails enter the earth without significant abrasion, with soil particles collapsing on the nail in a relatively undisturbed state. This creates pullout capacities up to 10 times that of driven or vibrated rods or tubes, providing an extremely efficient tool for slope stabilization. Additionally, the launcher unit has full articulation, allowing it to efficiently work around overhead wires, underground utilities, and guard rails—further increasing stabilization capabilities.
