G2 Venture Partners promotes Zach Barasz, Monica Varman, and Valerie Shen to Partner

PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today G2 Venture Partners, a venture capital firm focused on emerging technologies driving sustainable transformation across traditional industries announced the promotion of Zach Barasz, Monica Varman, and Valerie Shen to Partner.

Zach Barasz joined G2 in 2019 and has led the firm’s investments in portfolio companies KeepTruckin and Sheertex. Zach first worked with the G2 team in 2013 as an intern at Kleiner Perkins’ Green Growth Fund. He joined full-time after completing his MBA at Stanford, working with the team for three years as a Senior Associate, focused on transportation companies including Turo, Chargepoint, Proterra, and Telogis. In 2016, Zach became a partner at BMW i Ventures, where he led deals including Xometry, Blackmore Sensors & Analytics, Proterra, and CelLink.

Monica Varman joined G2 in 2019, and has been a part of our investments in Sheertex, Pivot Bio, Proterra, and ProducePay. She focuses on investments in circular economy, food / agriculture, and grid resilience. Monica was previously at Tesla on the business operations team, and at McKinsey as part of the Sustainability practice. Earlier in her career, she worked at Zola Electric in Tanzania and Rwanda, the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, and the World Wildlife Fund in the Middle East.

Valerie Shen joined G2 as Chief Operating Officer in 2020. She is responsible for all operational aspects of the firm including fundraising / LP relations, recruiting / HR, fund administration, impact reporting, legal, compliance, and marketing. Valerie first worked with the G2 team in 2016 at Kleiner Perkins’ Green Growth Fund. She left for business school in 2017, completing her MBA and Masters in Environment and Resources at Stanford. Valerie previously held positions at the US Senate, X (Google’s “moonshot factory”), and McKinsey.
