One Concern Announces Executive Appointments

Dr. Jeffrey Bohn joins One Concern as Chief Strategy Officer; Craig Fugate is named Chief Resilience Officer

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--One Concern, Inc. today announced the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey Bohn as Chief Strategy Officer and named Craig Fugate as Chief Resilience Officer, effective immediately. The two will work closely with One Concern’s expert Advisory Board including Alice Hill, a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and Steve Howard, Chief Sustainability Officer, Temasek International.

“In our mission to make disasters less disastrous, we’re thrilled to build our C-suite with foremost experts and leaders in climate risk and emergency management, as we continue our mission to prepare for and mitigate unpredictable climate risk,” said Ahmad Wani, CEO and Co-Founder, One Concern. “Alice, Jeff, Craig and Steve bring decades of experience across the private and public sectors in addressing climate threats and natural hazards, and this unparalleled experience will help One Concern create a resilience-as-a-service marketplace. Our goal is to help industry and government to build resilience and understand the downstream effects a climate event can have on business and society.”

Dr. Jeffrey Bohn served as Chief Research & Innovation Officer at Swiss Re Institute, where he managed new research activities supporting Swiss Re's strategy, clients, business development, and technology. Before he joined Swiss Re to establish the Swiss Re Institute, he served as Chief Science Officer and Head of GX Labs at State Street Global Exchange. Past appointments for Dr. Bohn include Head of Portfolio Analytics and Economic Capital at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore and General Manager of the Financial Strategies group at Shinsei Bank in Tokyo, where he supervised the implementation of best-practice risk and capital analytics.

Craig Fugate previously was One Concern’s Chief Emergency Management Officer and served as FEMA Administrator under President Obama, leading the agency through record-breaking disaster years, including hurricanes Irene, Matthew, and Sandy, as well as devastating tornadoes in the Midwest. Fugate is a leading proponent of the whole community approach to emergency management, emphasizing and improving collaboration among all levels of government (federal, tribal, state, and local) and external partners, including voluntary agencies, faith-based organizations, private sector organizations and citizens.

Alice Hill is the David M. Rubenstein Senior Fellow for Energy and the Environment at the Council on Foreign Relations, with prior federal roles in building resilience as a special assistant to President Barack Obama and as a senior director for resilience policy on the National Security Council. Under President Obama, Hill led public policy development, incorporating climate resilience considerations and capabilities into federal programs and developing national risk management standards for the most damaging natural hazards. She is the author of Building a Resilient Tomorrow and The Fight for Climate After COVID-19.

Steve Howard is a globally renowned sustainable business leader, currently serving as Chief Sustainability Officer for Temasek, the Singaporean-headquartered investment company, and Co-Chair of the We Mean Business Coalition, a global nonprofit working with the world’s most influential businesses to act on climate change. Howard was previously Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) at IKEA Group and served on IKEA’s Executive Group Management from 2011-2017. Prior to joining IKEA, Howard founded The Climate Group, a global non-profit organization that works with business and government leaders around the world to address climate change.

Recently, One Concern filed public comments with the Securities and Exchange Commission, advocating for the importance of a data-driven approach to measuring resilience as the Commission considers updating its climate risk disclosure requirements.
