Finite State Adds Three Veteran Cybersecurity Executives as need for Device & Supply Chain Security Surges

General Counsel Eric Greenwald, Executive Vice President of Marketing Mark Hodgson, and Vice President of Product Jeff Martin add world-class cybersecurity talent as Finite State addresses heightened device security risk

COLUMBUS, Ohio--()--Finite State, the innovation leader in supply chain security and risk management for connected IoT/IIoT and embedded devices, has added three veteran security experts, including a former Obama administration official who served on the National Security Council, a former Hewlett-Packard executive, and an engineer who has driven product development at WhiteSource and other startups to their leadership team

The new executives will accelerate the company’s growth as it addresses critical cybersecurity risks in device security at a time when the U.S. government and American industry are aggressively implementing new cybersecurity standards. Finite State is addressing vulnerabilities in IoT/IIoT/IoMT devices, data center, and 5G, across multiple verticals including critical infrastructure. “Embedded systems and their software are gravely important in network and critical infrastructure security, yet it’s historically overlooked. We’ve built a team that will drive more awareness around this issue in order to help the entire supply chain work together to rectify that,” says Matt Wyckhouse, founder and CEO of Finite State. “Finite State’s ability to attract this quality of talent in a highly competitive labor market underscores the growing importance of our mission to illuminate and combat the threats and vulnerabilities that fuel supply chain and connected devices risk.”

Newly named Finite State General Counsel Eric Greenwald previously served in the Obama White House as Special Assistant to the President, where he focused on protecting critical infrastructure as Senior Director for Cybersecurity on the National Security Council (NSC). Before his selection to the NSC, Eric was the Principal Deputy Director of the FBI's National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force and the Deputy Director of Operations at U.S. Cyber Command. Formerly an associate producer for CBS's "60 Minutes" and for National Public Radio, Eric is a graduate of Yale University with a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Mark Hodgson, the company’s newly appointed first Executive Vice President of Marketing, brings more than 30 years of experience growing cybersecurity companies. During his career, Hodgson has held positions of increasing responsibility at companies such as Hewlett-Packard Company, Symantec, BigFix, Charles Schwab, WhiteHat Security, Contrast Security, and Remediant. Hodgson holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Newly appointed Vice President of Product Jeff Martin is an experienced product leader who spent the last decade delivering software that enabled enterprises to understand and mitigate their risks. Most recently, Martin served as AVP of Product Development at WhiteSource Software, the leading Open Source Software Composition Analysis platform, during a period of explosive growth. Over his career, Martin managed products in the medical device industry before shifting his attention to product leadership within the software quality industry, where he focuses on developer-centric solutions.

“After recent attacks on America’s infrastructure, like the Colonial pipeline, cybersecurity is now a national priority, as evidenced by President Biden’s May 2021 Executive Order to safeguard America’s infrastructure and prevent future cyberattacks,” continues Wyckhouse. “Finite State has the depth of talent necessary to manage these risks and assure American security, competitiveness, and readiness. The recent addition of these respected and experienced executives will only strengthen our capacity to ensure that robust product security remains a top priority.”
