Carey LeMener, MD, Joins Southwestern Health Resources as Chief Network and Physician Experience Officer

LeMener will serve as senior external liaison between Southwestern Health Resources and the physician community

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR), the clinically integrated network of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) and Texas Health Resources (Texas Health), today announced Carey LeMener, MD, as Chief Network and Physician Experience Officer. Upon joining the team, LeMener will assume responsibility for implementing business practices, approaches and strategies to optimize and enhance the experience of SWHR’s more than 5,500 network physicians.

One of LeMener's goals is giving physicians back their time with patients. She said, “To be successful in building trust and partnering with our physicians, we must purposefully listen to our physicians’ needs, respond with excellent service, provide timely and useful feedback on the care of their patients, and ensure that, in whatever way possible, we seamlessly support rather than distract physicians in their fight for better patient care."

As a family physician, LeMener is committed to improving the lives of physicians, enhancing the patient-physician relationship, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. In her new role, LeMener will provide strategic guidance for growing the SWHR physician network and support physician performance initiatives. In addition, she will lead SWHR’s recruitment, recognition and retention efforts to align the network’s growth with quality goals and clinical priorities.

“Our strong clinically integrated network of independent and employed physicians is the backbone of Southwestern Health Resources,” said Sanjay Doddamani, MD, MBA, Chief Physician Executive, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. “I look forward to partnering with Carey to ensure optimal performance and growth of our physician network. She will play an integral role to enhance physician experience and execute on strategic objectives that contribute to the network’s growth.”

LeMener is partnered closely with Shashank Karnik, Vice President, Provider Engagement. Together, under Doddamani’s leadership, they will work closely with the network’s physicians to further reduce administrative burdens, lower total cost of care for patients and drive the best health outcomes.

LeMener spent the previous 15 years at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), most recently as the Vice President of Primary Care, where she worked to advance primary care strategy and conduct operational improvements. She attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed her residency at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency program in San Antonio.
