Vatic Investments Appoints Allen Poteshman, Ph.D., as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Statistical Arbitrage

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vatic Investments, a systematic quantitative investment manager, announced today the appointment of Allen Poteshman, Ph.D., as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Statistical Arbitrage, effective April 16^th, 2021. Poteshman is based in New York and reports to James Chiu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vatic.

In this new role, Poteshman will oversee the firm’s investments across all asset classes including a new statistical arbitrage strategy, and will continue to expand the firm’s reputation within the alternative investment management industry.

Prior to joining Vatic, Poteshman was a Managing Director in Citadel’s Global Quantitative Securities group and a Senior Vice President in D.E. Shaw’s Equity Stat Arb group, where he spent 11 years. Previously, he spent eight years as a finance Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his research focused on the equity and options markets.

His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago in addition to a Ph.D. in Philosophy and an M.A. in Physics from the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds a B.A. in Physics and Philosophy from Yale University.
