StreamSets Announces Certification as a HIPAA Business Associate

StreamSets’ DataOps platform Achieves HIPAA Certification to Handle Protected Health Information

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StreamSets, the provider of the technology industry’s first DataOps platform, today announced its certification as a HIPAA Business Associate, enabling healthcare companies and providers to leverage its innovative technology.

2020 saw a huge increase in the number of data breaches exposing sensitive records, including patient data, making the need for added security and data protection measures essential for industries working with protected information.

“There’s a reason covered entities working with protected health information consider the HIPAA business associate certification a must-have,” explained Girish Pancha, CEO of StreamSets. “In today’s world, it’s vital for these entities to protect their patient data as well as their business interests. At StreamSets, 20 percent of our business is in healthcare, therefore it’s a top priority for us to demonstrate that we can handle protected health information appropriately.”

StreamSets is committed to providing assurance to customers and prospects that fall under the HIPAA covered entity designation that it has the appropriate safeguards in place to prevent inappropriate use or disclosure of protected health information (PHI). To this end, StreamSets recently underwent the HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rule Protocols, collectively known as the ‘HIPAA Audit Program’ and achieved certification as a HIPAA business associate.

While the StreamSets’ DataOps platform does not have access to any patient information, or make data HIPAA compliant, it can process PHI and manage data pipelines for covered entities. This enables these entities to transform data storage and management processes, making it easier to gain insights to serve patients and customers.
