Global Connectivity Demand Drives Zayo’s Fiber Network Expansion in Florida

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. today announced the final phase of construction for a network expansion in Central Florida, including Miami, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, Lakeland, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Palm Bay and the surrounding areas. The additional 2,600 route miles of fiber will complement Zayo’s existing network, spanning 13 million fiber miles and providing connectivity to customers located in over 400 markets worldwide.

The build will provide a backbone to anchor clients as well as carriers, enterprise businesses and data centers that require increasing amounts of bandwidth. Additionally, it will enable Zayo’s full suite of network solutions, including lit services such as Dark Fiber, Private Dedicated Networks, Wavelengths, Ethernet, IP VPN, Internet, SD-WAN and Cloudlink. Zayo is one of the few providers in the state offering Dark Fiber solutions and the only provider to offer Private Dedicated Networks.

The new fiber is installed completely underground, supporting network stability by protecting against weather-related events. Zayo is the owner and operator of the fiber, resulting in a more seamless customer experience.

“In addition to the first-ever Private Dedicated Network solutions in the state, the quality, density and diversity of our network provide a significant advantage to our customers,” said Marty Snella, SVP of Strategic Implementation. “Our expanded footprint in Florida underscores our commitment to extending global reach opportunities to the businesses and organizations that are fueling impressive growth and innovation.”

According to a report by Florida Chamber Foundation, Florida has experienced significant growth in industries that are driving the trend for rising demands for bandwidth and global connectivity, including aerospace and aviation; health care and life sciences; manufacturing; logistics and distribution; and financial and professional services. This new fiber network will support innovation in these and other burgeoning industries in addition to well-established enterprises in the state.
