WALTHAM, Mass. and HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NWN Corporation, the leading Cloud Communications Service Provider (CCSP) delivering solutions for today’s work-from-anywhere environment, and Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare system, today shared details of how the two organizations have furthered their partnership to support remote IT staff, launch field hospitals, testing sites and, most recently, mega-vaccine sites in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hartford HealthCare and NWN have been partnering for over 15 years, focusing on all aspects of the hospital’s innovative vision. Hartford HealthCare has leveraged NWN’s solutions to connect remote workers and on-site care providers with unified communications for maximum productivity, transformed distributed clinical experiences with IT support and protected technology investments by simplifying operations and gaining deeper insights with integrated advanced technology solutions and security.
As Hartford HealthCare proactively initiated their response operations in early 2020, the organization quickly began making critical decisions to ensure the health and safety of their employees and community. With the help of NWN’s integrated offerings that dramatically simplifies a remote work posture, Hartford HealthCare rapidly moved all non-clinical staff to a work-from-home environment and began offering virtual health appointments to patients – working with NWN to enable their network to support virtual access to more than 1,300 primary and specialty care providers.
As COVID-19 surged in the community, NWN delivered the necessary network solutions to support the launch of mobile testing sites, field hospitals and the mega-vaccine sites. “Over the last year, NWN has helped Hartford HealthCare be agile,” said Joe Venturelli, Chief Technology Officer at Harford HealthCare. “As large as we are, we can think outside of the box to save lives and still have operational excellence at the forefront.”
Since the end of 2020, Hartford HealthCare has now opened seven mega-vaccine sites across the state to meet the urgent demand for mass vaccination. NWN was instrumental in providing the integrated networking cradles, hubs and communications software to run these necessary operations. With this level of ongoing device and communications support, Hartford HealthCare has offered residents a baseline allocation of nearly 7,000 vaccination doses each week, anticipating capacity to do that many vaccines each day as the roll-out expands.
“We asked NWN for miracles,” said Venturelli. “Never in my career have my efforts had a more direct impact on patient welfare. The faster I can get a testing site set up or the faster we can get a vaccination site up, the faster we can save lives. NWN helps those efforts.”
“We’ve had a long and successful partnership supporting Hartford HealthCare, but our recent work together has been a testament to the importance of technology infrastructure as we continue the fight against COVID-19,” said Jim Sullivan, CEO of NWN Corporation. “Our partnership has enabled hospital staff and volunteers to distribute the vaccine quickly and effectively across the state of Connecticut and we’re proud to have delivered the integrated cloud offerings that served as a backbone of their critical technology services.”
