Publix Administers More Than 250,000 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine in Florida

More than 300,000 total doses across four states

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As of today, Publix Pharmacy has administered more than 250,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to customers in Florida and more than 300,000 total vaccine doses across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia.

This week, the company received doses from both the state of Florida and the federal government, allowing Florida Publix pharmacies to administer the vaccine to eligible individuals at 593 locations in 41 Florida counties, beginning Feb. 12. To date, Publix Pharmacy has administered 100% of the more than 250,000 first doses of vaccine it was provided.

The company began administering the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 7, starting with a 22-store pilot effort in Florida, just days after the state asked retailers for assistance in administering the vaccine. In the following weeks, the company was able to expand COVID-19 vaccination appointments into Georgia and South Carolina, and earlier this month began vaccinations in Virginia as well.

Publix continues to communicate with the states in its operating area to provide the COVID‑19 vaccine as part of their distribution efforts.

Vaccinations are provided to eligible individuals at select locations, by appointment only and while supplies last, through the online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine. Appointments cannot be made by calling Publix or the Publix Pharmacy.

As doses of the COVID-19 vaccine become available, the company announces the dates and times the reservation system opens in each state. Customers who receive their first dose at a Publix Pharmacy are automatically scheduled to receive their second dose at the same location four weeks after the first dose is administered.

Vaccinations are provided at no cost to the individual. Customers with appointments will need to bring their health insurance card or red, white and blue Medicare Part B card to their appointment. Customers without health insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.
