BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American College of Rheumatology’s (ACR) Rheumatology Research Foundation (RRF) has awarded the Bendcare LLC Columbus Division a research grant to support their project Telehealth-delivered Healthcare to Improve Care (THRIVE) in Community-Practice Rheumatology. Drs. Swamy Venuturupalli, Jeffrey Curtis, Ben Nowell, and other collaborators at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the Global Healthy Living Foundation are scientifically leading the project. Bendcare’s Columbus platform is being utilized due to its reputation as one of the largest, most comprehensive data sources in rheumatology, with data on more than 3,200,000 unique patients.
The ultimate goal of this project is to increase patient access to care, expand the impact of technology-enabled tools for rheumatologists, especially those marginalized or most at risk by the COVID-19 pandemic, and enable and improve the value of care delivered by rheumatology specialists in community settings through telehealth. This project seeks to define best practices in telehealth rheumatology, solidify high-quality telehealth as an integral part of care, and incorporate and disseminate tools to community rheumatologists. The THRIVE project is the recipient of this year’s ACR Norman B. Gaylis Innovative Research Award for Community Practitioners, and it is one of the first projects ever to receive support through this unique funding mechanism.
