AT&T/DIRECTV Drops CMG Stations Across 20 Markets Nationwide

AT&T/DIRECTV Customers Lose Access To CMG’s Critical Local News Coverage, Sports and Entertainment Programming

ATLANTA--()--AT&T/DIRECTV has removed all Cox Media Group (“CMG”) stations from its channel lineups in 20 markets across the U.S., sacrificing their subscribers’ access to the stations’ critical COVID-19 updates, local and national news, weather, sports and other quality programming. The CMG markets affected by AT&T’s decision are:

  • Alexandria, LA
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Binghamton, NY
  • Boston, MA
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Dayton, OH
  • Eureka, CA
  • Greenville-Greenwood, MS
  • Idaho Falls-Pocatello, ID
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Medford, OR
  • Memphis, TN
  • Orlando, FL
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Seattle, WA
  • Spokane, WA
  • Syracuse, NY
  • Tulsa, OK
  • Yakima-Tri Cities, WA
  • Yuma, AZ

Rather than reach a deal, AT&T/DIRECTV instead has chosen to drop the CMG stations. This comes at a time when viewers, more than ever, need access to the timely and credible information the CMG TV stations work hard to bring to our local communities.

“CMG viewers know our trusted local stations are there to deliver the news and information they need to make decisions for their families. Its disappointing that AT&T/DIRECTV has decided to deprive them of that access. We take pride in serving our communities and we will fight to continue to fulfill this responsibility,” said Paul Curran, CMG’s EVP of Television.

CMG has hundreds of agreements in place, including with every other major cable and satellite provider in the country where our award-winning TV stations are available. AT&T/DIRECTV customers have other options to watch the local news of CMG TV stations, including online at their local station’s website or on streaming devices such as Roku or AppleTV. Another option for viewers affected by AT&T/DIRECTV’s decision is to switch to another cable TV, satellite or streaming provider – or to use an over-the-air antenna.

If you are affected by AT&T/DIRECTV continuing to deprive you of local programming or are worried about what AT&T will do next, remember that you can make your voice heard! Call AT&T/DIRECTV today at 1.800.288.2020 and urge them to agree to a fair deal, and get your local stations back on their service. Your access to quality local news and weather, popular sporting events and entertainment programming is at stake.
