Glenmede Investment Management Celebrates 5th Anniversary for Women in Leadership U.S. Equity Strategy

Portfolio to integrate Equileap data into multi-factor model for more comprehensive approach to advancing gender equity

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Glenmede Investment Management LP (GIM), a privately owned, independent asset management firm, recently celebrated the five-year anniversary of its Glenmede Women in Leadership US Equity Strategy (“Strategy”). With more than $25.6 million in assets under management as of September 30, 2020, the strategy is a portfolio of large cap stocks, constructed with proprietary multi-factor models, based on a universe of securities with women in various positions of leadership.

The strategy’s investment universe consists of equities of companies which meet an identified percentage of gender diversity in senior management and board membership. Since its inception in December 2015, Glenmede’s Women in Leadership U.S. Equity Strategy increased its requirements by 5%. Currently, the strategy requires there be at least 30% women in management or 30% of women on the board, or have a female CEO or board chair to be considered for inclusion.

Coinciding with the anniversary, GIM integrated Equileap into its broader multi-factor model for a more comprehensive and differentiating lens on value creation. Equileap is a gender-focused data provider that analyzes 19 criteria, including items such as gender pay equity, access to benefits, anti-harassment policies, diverse supply chains and the breakdown of women in leadership. GIM believes that policies such as parental leave, the issuance of pay equity reports, and programs that foster a culture more supportive of women may also ultimately reflect stronger companies that may outperform.

Reflecting on the strategy’s anniversary, Amy Wilson, Director of ESG Investing, noted, “As data evolves, the ability to discern which ESG considerations are most relevant and potentially additive to an investment thesis will be a key differentiator. The integration of Equileap data demonstrates GlM’s commitment to a conscious and continuous refinement in the data used in our investment analysis.”

Glenmede’s Women in Leadership U.S. Equity Strategy uses the Russell 1000 Index as a benchmark and has been managed by GIM’s quantitative equity team, with Vladimir de Vassal, Paul Sullivan and Alexander Atanasiu serving as portfolio managers since its inception.
