NBMBAA® Receives $100,000 Donation from KPMG U.S. Foundation, Inc.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The National Black MBA Association® (NBMBAA®) has been awarded a one-time donation of $100,000 from KPMG U.S. Foundation’s Racial Equity Action Fund, which is dedicated to supporting community efforts addressing racial inequity, focusing on four key areas – health and welfare, education, career workforce readiness and racial justice.

The donation comes at the end of a year in which NBMBAA® has adapted its programming to enrich the professional lives of its members in the midst of a pandemic. Blane Ruschak, KPMG U.S. Foundation, Inc. President, said the donation bolsters the Association’s work in closing the opportunity divide and “ensuring that underserved young members of the Black community gain the skills, experiences, and support that will empower them to reach their potential.”

KPMG U.S. Foundation, Inc., seeks to bring about systemic change in business and society by investing in education and the development of a rich and diverse pool of talent today to create inclusive and innovative leaders for tomorrow.

Aligned with KPMG’s mission to support educational initiatives, the donation will be used to support NBMBAA’s Leaders of Tomorrow® program for high school students, undergraduate scholarships and financial literacy training. “We are deeply moved by the immense generosity of Mr. Ruschak and KPMG U.S. Foundation,” said NBMBAA® President and CEO Joe Handy. “In our efforts to prepare Black students for success in their pursuits of higher education and professional development, this donation will have a significant impact on the growth of our members – and our organization as a whole.”

Since its inception in 1991, the NBMBAA® Leaders of Tomorrow® Program has mentored more than 8,000 talented youth aspiring to leadership roles in professional fields. NBMBAA® provides financial support to student members pursuing higher education. More than five million dollars in scholarships has been awarded to undergraduate and graduate students in recent years with the aim of increasing the pool of Black talent for the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
