DHA Completes Allocation of $4 Million in 2020 CARES Act Rent Assistance Supporting More Than 1,200 Families

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas (DHA) has completed allocating CARES Act Rent Relief funds on behalf of the City of Dallas. Since August, DHA received 4,800 completed applications, reviewed the applications for eligibility, ran multiple lotteries, and issued $4 million in temporary rental assistance for 1,207 families. The approach designed by DHA enabled rental assistance to reach the most vulnerable residents while accounting for equitable geographical distribution.

The City of Dallas COVID-19 Rent Relief program, funded by the CARES Act, is a federally funded initiative designed to help low income households that have been adversely impacted by COVID-19 through the loss of their employment income or who sustained a reduction in income and are delinquent in paying rent.

“We are proud to have helped more than twelve hundred Dallas families during this tough time,” said Troy Broussard, President and Chief Executive Officer of DHA. “Our partnership with the City of Dallas worked well for this rent assistance program and we look forward to future collaborations to benefit the residents of the city of Dallas.”

Applications are now closed because all funds have been allocated. Those who are still seeking rent assistance can see what resources are available on the City of Dallas website: https://dallascityhall.com/departments/housing-neighborhood-revitalization/Pages/CARES-Act-CRF-Rental-Assistance-Program-.aspx.
