Appfire Names Bob Nicholson President and Chief Operating Officer

Company Expands Senior Management Team to Accommodate Rapid Market Adoption of Digital Transformation Apps

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Appfire, a leading provider of apps for software development teams, today announced the appointment of Bob Nicholson as President and Chief Operating Officer. Nicholson has more than twenty years of strategy, finance, operations, and M&A experience working with high growth technology companies.

In his capacity as President and COO, Nicholson will report to Randall Ward, co-founder and CEO, and will have direct oversight of global operations, human resources and talent, marketing, and business systems.

“It’s been a pivotal year for Appfire as we celebrated our 15th year in business. We welcomed Silversmith as our investment partner. Our customer base has doubled in size. And our team has grown by more than fifty percent and expanded into two new international markets, making this the perfect time to bring on a leader with Bob’s track record,” said Randall Ward, co-founder and CEO, Appfire. “Bob is a grounded leader with extensive experience scaling commercial operations and growing innovative companies. He’s joining at an exciting time as the demand for our apps continues to accelerate. We are thrilled for him to join Appfire.”

Nicholson has been involved in high growth companies as an investor, advisor, board member, and founder. He spent over a decade at Spectrum Equity, where he was a Managing Director and General Partner. During this time, he partnered with founders and their management teams to grow and transform companies that collectively raised over $2 billion in equity and debt, including two successful IPOs. He has also been an entrepreneur, building an alternative asset manager from “white board” to a strategic deal with BNY Mellon. Most recently, he has been active as an early and growth stage investor in software, fintech, and tech-enabled services companies and is an advisor to the founding team at Hometap, a CB Insights Fintech 250 member.

“The Appfire team builds great products and has a relentless customer focus that is well recognized by the industry,” commented Bob Nicholson. “I am excited to help Appfire pursue accelerated growth through operational excellence, customer-led development, and a focused acquisition and partnership strategy.”
